In Nov 2013 Model RR News,pg 50 is a review of Rapido's now released CN FP-9's. Used by CN and VIA, would work on the long distance runs, and corridor runs as well. Both DC/DCC with sound are avaible.

Con-Cor has been making their various LW cars in VIA colours in both HO and N for years. The HO scale cars are pretty lousy, while the N scale ones are pretty nice (okay detailing, nice interiors, run okay). I'm not sure if any of them are particularly accurate for any of VIA's equipment, but some may be close.

One interesting new announcement for modellers of older Canadian passengers ops is Athearn's announcement of Canadian GP9s, including a proper CP Rail torpedo-tube passenger GP9.

Well, I ordered a Rapido Super Continental coach in the RF&P paint scheme and am looking forward to it. I know the cars are actually Canadian based models but these units are gorgeous looking stand-ins and they will complement my SCL and ACL fleet nicely. Protoype RF&P passenger cars and locomotives regularly ran in NY to FL long distance trains on those railroads due to pool agreements. www.rapidotrains.com/images/scl/rtr100-2/rfp_coach.jpg

Thanks for posting! Man, am I ever excited about those rebuilds!!! It will be awesome to have a mix of these along with the non-rebuilt Canada-scheme units.
I've known these were coming for a while now (along with the cabbages and other Amtrak phases, these were planned right from the start of the F40 project...pending on successful sales, etc., of course), and it's great to see them so soon. I understand they were pushed up a bit from the initial plan (Jason teased "2017" as the planned announcement date in a cryptic forum post a while back). With them ready to go to tooling any time now, it won't be too long before there are samples and the official announcement is made.
As with the first batch of VIA units (and the Amtrak ones), these are no doubt going to be stellar models. They'll be recording new sound files for these too, because the rebuilds sound very different from the conventional screamer. Since they have a separate HEP generator, you have the constant sound from that engine running, but you can also hear the primer mover independently revving up and down through the notches. They're pretty great sounding beasts!

Jason dropped a newsletter today,Saved VIA RDC 6133,a former CP RDC-1 AS of 01/08/16,after the auction of the "remains" of "Industrial Rail", a failed rail car Rebuilding shop, the onsite scrapping of (former?)VIA RDC's had started. Some of the RDC's were part supplies for the few Rebuilds done before bankruptcy Jason grabbed 6133,and now needs donations to move(on flat car)VIA 6133 and start the restoration process. Figure on a run of VIA 6133 and in it's former CP scheme(CP 9058),and in it's 1st "life" as a "Dominion Alantic" RDC-1 9058
An update, plans have changed a bit, instead of a flatcar,a wheelset swap out and air brake work to allow a "dead in tow" move to a safe haven.
