What agencies do you currently, or have future interest, in modeling? If you pick other, please state in a reply.

I have a future interest in modeling the Penn Central as well as Amtrak. At this time Amtrak day 1 has me most interested.

I am pretty much interested in any Commuter lines that run on the NEC but I like a bunch of commuter lines and have trains from RTA, CalTrain, ACE, Sounder, VRE, TriRail, MBTA, CDOT, MNRR, NJT, MARC, LIRR.

I'm modeling the CSX Old Main Line in 1998, so I'll also be including MARC and Amtrak in my operations where they operate on CSX lines at either end of the OML. I've been a MARC fan for a long time and have an old website that is desperately in need of updating: www.trainweb.org/marcrailfan/I don't have any passenger models started at the moment but plan to work on a few this year. I'm glad to see a forum focused on passenger and commuter modeling and hope I can contribute in the future. Dave

Well, I'm old school as I'm a fan of early Amtrak and the New Haven Railroad's commuter operations from the 1960s.

I'm a youngish West Coast Northern California guy so it's Amtrak California for me. Going to try a SS finish on my kit bashed Am Cal car soon. Excited to see other modelers work here and share my own. Thanks for starting this board acelaphillies! Paul Z.

Could you update the survey to include RTA with Metra, and add GO Transit? I model RTA, not Metra, and actually most of my commuter models are still C&NW, even though it was RTA-funded during my era. It's complicated to explain but oh-so-fun to build.

Have models of NMRX(Railrunner),SCAX(METROLINK),and MNCR, have a few pending projects for various RDC models in MN and ATSF.

Hey everyone, great to see the replys! I'm glad you are all looking forward to posting on this forum. Could you update the survey to include RTA with Metra, and add GO Transit? Unfortunately I can't edit the poll--sorry. However, I will add Canada to the regions. I'm a NEC fan. I am interested in modeling Amtrak, SEPTA, and NJ Transit. I am currently working on an ACES train. I am moving slow because I have been really busy, but hopefully I have pictures up later this month. I am going to start a suggestions thread so everyone can give his input and we can make this forum the best that it can be.

As far as my passenger modeling goes, Amtrak and some Penn Central are my interests. I'll leave the classic roads to those that can remember them......all those Fallen Flags were gone BEFORE I was born in the late 60's.
My commuter preferences are the LIRR (recently retired as an engineer with 25 years), Metro North, NYCTA, CDOT and NJT. I also plan on doing some METRA, MARC, MBTA and any other piece of equiptment that interests me.

Primary Railroads: Conrail, NJ DOT, Amtrak, SEPTA, NJT

Well, I had a lot of "time crisis" as far as modeling goes, but i have lately found myself settled.
I model Amtrak, NJ DOT, and a little bit SEPTA and NJ Transit.
Anything electrified is good for me, but in particular, I like to model the area of the NEC between Metropark Station and Lane/Waverly in the year 1978-79.
Though not a passenger line, Conrail electrified freights also figure prominently into my operations ( I have three E44s, 2 E33s and 2 GG1s covering that end).
That said, I also have many modern Amtrak, NJ Transit, and SEPTA stuff.

My N-scale layout is based on the Erie Lackawanna RR if it had been able to stay out of Conrail. However, just as in reality, EL gave up their commuter operation to NJ Transit. My N-scale commuter fleet currently consists of several NJT engines from Atlas and 3 Comet coaches from Island Modelworks.

My primary interest in terms of modeling has always been SEPTA commuter and transit operations. I like Amtrak, but mostly electric operations, and there I limit my interests around the original Metroliner MUs. I like some NJT NEC operations, and MNCR electric operations, too, mostly the lines out of GCT. My time period is mid-late 1980s. I have some other interest areas too (Conrail, some steam, Euro high-speed rail lines, classic German steam), but not enough to consider building layouts around them. I've been learning I can't collect everything, so I have started limiting my model collecting and building mostly to my time period. I'd like to build an HO layout one day with a SEPTA/Amtrak theme, maybe a little further to NY and Conn, if there's room.

Primary Railroads: VIA Rail Canada, AMT (Montreal)
|
Post by timberley on Mar 22, 2013 21:07:18 GMT -5
My primary modelling interest is VIA Rail Canada in the 2001+ time period in eastern Canada. Specifically, I hope to one day model an HO scale representation of the CN/VIA mainline between Brockville Ontario and Montreal, the section of track along which I grew up and on which I have travelled the most. I love the busy mainline action (both passenger and freight), but also hope to work in a compressed version of VIA's Montreal Maintenance Centre...it may have to be *very* compressed! There may be some AMT commuter action nearer the Montreal end, but we'll see. I'm interested in a time period that is actually probably more like 2009+ (when the rebuilt F40s and refurbished LRCs started to appear), but I leave it at 2001+ so I can justify having a few LRC locomotives still kicking around Thankfully Rapido's offerings are making VIA Rail modelling progressively easier...now if Kato will just do their new P42 in VIA paint with the new "3rd eye" headlight (see here if you don't know what I mean: img216.imageshack.us/img216/3568/1009654ms6.jpg), I'll be quite happy I'm glad to see this forum started up, and I hope it manages to grow. Passenger modellers are often a little more on the "fringe" of the MRR world, so I think it's great to have a dedicated forum for the topic!

I'm modeling Amtrak (Phase IVb), NJT and Septa, so far the layout is mostly centered around Trenton, NJ/FAIR Tower. The PRR still holds a special place though since my grandfather started out with them and retired with Amtrak
