According to Bachmann's Facebook page, the Bachmann ACS-64's are in and are about to hit the streets...one Septa and one #619 for me. Can't wait to see how many Walthers' Amfleets or Horizon cars it can pull before I have to add Bullfrog Snot to the wheels...lol. Just ordered mine from MB Klein, Amtrak #619 (had to buy it... it was Karma. that was my badge number for over. 30 years). OUTSTANDING price! Listed for $189.99 on their site (way, WAY below MSRP). As soon as I clicked on it to add it to the cart, I got a further $19.99 discount! Total with shipping was $178.35! HAD to bite at that price! Now I have to get something for it to pull Inventory shows they still have #600, the flag unit (22 in stock), #642, the Veterans unit (12 in stock), #607 (11 in stock), #619 (17 in stock). The SEPTA unit, #901 is SOLD OUT. At these prices I wouldn't dally.

I just got my 2 in the mail today, (1) SEPTA 901 & Amtrak #619.
I have to give it to Bachmann, they did a great job. I like the detail, but I just wished they would have used a Loksound decoder instead.
For the record, #619 can pull (6) Walthers Proto Amfleets, & SEPTA #901 can pull 6 Walthers Horizon cars with no problems.
For kicks, I tried a trainset of (7) Proto Amfleets. She struggled a bit on straightaways and started to slip in the curves.
I also tried (8) Proto Amfleets, which is how many cars I usually see the ACS-64 pulls along the NEC....she wouldn't even budge.
So it looks like I'll be running (6) car Proto Amfleets with #619. But I'll keep my eye on the new run of Bachmann Amfleets when they hit the streets.

Seems the "trade off" for a sound decoder is weight of the model,if the "given" is the DC model is" DCC ready". You should be able to fill the speaker space with weights to improve traction.

Been putting the ACS-64 through the paces today. I have to give Bachmann a full thumbs up on this model. If they could only do more of their other locomotives with the detail & care they took with the ACS-64, I would consider to purchase more of their models.
Now if I can only figure out how in the world to get those EZ Mate couplers off so I can swap them for Kadees!!!... The schematic that comes with the loco is awful!

Is that "plastic wonder" coupler body mounted or truck mounted?
At least the Bachmann site yielded the exploded diagram. The Scrap coupler is mounted to the pilot assem on each end of the model, can't tell if the truck blocks access to the screw holding the coupler box on the pilot assem,WARNING: TINY SCREW !!!! remove screw to replace coupler, check if you need to use a long shank version to clear pilot details.

From the look of it, either the detail parts have to removed to get to the coupler, or, in the process of unscrewing, the details come apart to allow access to the coupler box.
I have to get a fresh set of jewelers' screwdrivers from the dollar store so I don't mistakenly strip the screw.
