:-[One of the "joys" of DCC is the rare, but stinky decoder burnout failure or Lightboard failure,with/without flames Had an Athearn Lightboard/DCC plug in burn out this last weekend at a small setup for a Harvest Festival Believe one of the boards diodes melted along with the wires from the trucks. :)The Decoder survived, tested it on an other project loco, debating a straight boad replacement with a spare Athearn lightboard or replace with Soundtraxx non-sound decoder. The victum is a CF-7,new style frame

Here's a shot of the original(factory) lightboard, the only visible damage besides the melted wires is 1 of the "M-4" diodes is slightly melted, still unsure what caused the "meltdown" Attachments:

Had a spare Athearn lightboard and tested it,then started the the rewire to it,best to use scraps of decoder lead wire (any color) for the truck to board connection. Attachments:
