This fix is useful on Bachmann Amfleet and Metroliner trucks as well. To not have to pull a wheel off the axle, use a piece of brass "C" channel instead of the tube.

That is excellent!
This will work for the Horizon/Commuter cars since they have the same type of truck.
Please consider sharing this info on the other forums as well. Plenty of Amfleet car owners out there that will benefit from this.

If you're going to modify the truck, take the time to paint rust/rail brown on the wheel centers, unless you did that eariler. This is a Bachmann Amfleet I in phase I paint ,aftre "rusting" the wheel centers. Attachments:

Hi, everyone,
The latest Amfleet cars from Walthers has a slightly different bearing arrangement since it is designed for current pickup. They're using a little square bearing that looks like it is nickel plated. These trucks roll even WORSE, like they have the handbrakes set!
I have not had time to mess around with them but I'll be watching for any hints anyone has to get these babies to free up and I'll let you know if I figure anything out...
Thanks, Ed

GMP,Can you post a pic of the truck? The only quick "fix" I can think of is to run a round needle file to clean up the bearing hole. this could be a clone of the drive bearings used on Athearn RTR and Proto 1000/2000 models. A little of oil after clean up.
you do not need a 3rd party site to load photos to this board, attach directly to the post
