At a young age way back when in 2008 I walked into some small hobby store in Long Island and found this Bachmann F40PH in NJT Transit colors and said wow thats cool! and bought it. It was a split frame, not the newer run and I always liked it for some reason. Here's a picture of it from 2008 (crappy cellphone pic)
Now before you say anything lol, I was young and a newbie and ill admit not a very good modeler. back then I couldnt build a proper loco if you asked lol.
Anyway moving on, in like 2009 or 2010 I heard that NJT leased some locos to a Canadian commuter agency AMT Montreal and I was like wow they have a pretty cool system it would be neat to model it somewhat. which I ended up doing. Now there werent any AMT decals available or any cars (other than the super hard to find bilevels made by Athearn...) so I did this BS... ->
and it stayed like that for 4-5 years...
Now I was bored, and this loco was sitting after not being ran since late 2012/early 2013. It was in need of some heavy maintenance. So I sidelined the GP35 project and said lets do this proper! I peeled off the paper removed the newbie magic marker and buffed out anything else that made it look like a toy. Step two, pull the trucks and clean out that gear gunk thats been in it since it was manufactured. man was that messy. Cleaned the wheels painted the truck frames black. That was complete. now I didnt know how the hell I was going to extend the frame but I completely forgot I had a BB F45 shell laying around.Guess what? perfect fit. Did some splicing and dicing and wallah had my ends cut up... I used the BB shell rear pilot to make a respectabe one for the front and get rid of that crappy looking piece in the front. after alot of detailing, gluing and sanding viola! it was near done so I did what I could made it look good the painted the black areas then did silver. I wasn,t going for a fresh new look more of a battered but take a look... ->
