It also seems like we are getting down to the final desired list of Amtrak models. This statement in the New Models thread really got me thinking. I always assumed that there was much more Amtrak stuff to make, but once I started thinking about it, there is really not that much that has not been covered! I decided to split the Amtrak roster into three categories. I would love to hear what you guys have to say, as I'm sure I have some ommissions or errors. Also, if you disagree, let us know why. This is a working list and suggestions/edits are welcome. Also done poorly, but should be on the list to be re-made: Heljan Amtrak X2000 and IC3.
Hard to find: Fleischmann Amtrak ICE set.
Need to be done: Plastic Amtrak California Cars Plated versions of the Budd Bi-level Cars in Phase I (pointless arrow) and Phase III F69PH-AC GP40TC Penn Central E8HEP Siemens Next Gen. Charger diesel.
P.S. The rumor I hear on the web is if Amtrak decides to purchase bi-level cars based on the Amtrak California Car design for the Midwest commuter market out of Chicago, we might see these type of passenger cars in plastic soon.

The French Tubro was done by Jouef,an european company, trainset quailty, pancake motor drive truck, weird snap-fit connecting drawbar between cars. Believe the E-60 was done by American GK and Bachmann, generic style, trainset quality for both. MHC-I's Con-cor,Walters,MHC-II's(Express Boxcars)Walters,RoadRailers/Reeferrailers,with adapa-mates,Bowser LifeLike(pre P2K era),Trainset Quailty F40ph(body shell+frame good for NPCU model),40ft gons in MW orange. AHM,GP18's in MW orange,Trainset quailty, possible remotor project. Athearn,SDP40F stand in(FP-45),Lifelike(P1K)RDC-1 and RDC-2 Not sure if Atlas did a RS-3 in black dip, white lettering......

I have a OMI-Ajin Amtrak P32ACDM in Phase IV colors that I found brand new a couple of months ago at a train show for dirt cheap and just missed out on the brass New Haven version. I wouldn't trade it for the world. Runs great compared to other brass models I've owned and eventually I might upgrade it with DCC/Sound.
But with hobby dollars stretched thin with all the upcoming new releases, that project is definitely going on the back burner.
I'm sure once I decide to tackle that upgrade, someone will announce a plastic P32ACDM.
I have to admit I'll be foaming when I see the SDP40F announced.

Added bilevels to the list of "needs improvement" as well as the Amtrak cab cars were homebuilt in Paducah shops, not Pullman factory like Walthers and Kato sold.

The MP15DC was done by Atlas, and that's not on the list. The 600-series GP40's were too, but they need a little work to make them correct.
Kato's attempt at the Phase III (body style) F40 falls flat in many areas, but was done. Their Super I's aren't horrible, but need work. As for the Metroliners, they're all Phase I models, as nobody has (or likely will) make a Phase II variant.
Athearn's CF-7 can go on the list of "needs improvement" as can their RS-3. All were used in MOW service into the 80's and 90's for the CF-7.
For me, the SPV-2000 can be listed too.
Also, I'd wager this is an HO-scale list :-) EDIT: glad I read the subject... oy

The GP 40's used as booster units were also done by Bachmann recently, they did have HEP pass thru cables. They were Rental units

This is actually a good thread Hoss.
Just a note...Walthers WAS supposed to do the HEP-equipped Parlour cars....then just pushed it to the wayside.

Alright guys, I tried to make the changes! Comb through it and tell me what else can be done.
Do you think that I should make a new category...Models that are good, but just not Genesis level. "Needs improvement" makes them sound bad IMO.
