Hello everyone! Is anyone going on the AEM-7 farewell excursion in June??? www.amtrak.com/farewell-to-the-aem7-excursion-trainI realized I am actually off of work for this, so I may book a seat. Besides the meatball holding a special place in my heart, this does provide some GREAT up-close opportunities for photographs especially when modeling! Plus it would be great if some of us can actually meet in person! Tom

Tom, if you go, have fun! I decided not to go because it's pretty expensive.

942 + 946 had the honor of the "farewell run" with Beech Grove(10001) carrying the markers. Both have been pulling MARC equipment in the past few weeks, might continue on MARC service untill their next 92 day inspection or major part failure happens. The "torch" has been passed on to the ACS-64.

Hi guys! I hope everyone that went on the trip had a good time! How was it? I enjoyed fanning the farewell run. I really did enjoy watching the AEM-7s all these years, and I was glad I could catch the final run. Here are two of my pictures, the first at Marcus Hook and the second at Prospect Park. Great trip, great weather, perfect day!
It almost brought a tear to your eye, just how perfect everything went.

I still can't believe they're finally done!
They were such a fixture of the Corridor.

Blows me away is that I remember reading the Amtrak news letter back in 1979 (I think) when the AEM-7's were announced! I'm getting old as to me if feels like it was just a few years ago.
Having been accustomed to larger locomotives hauling varnish, I literally said "That's what's replacing the GG1 and E60CP?!" But of course, history proved that the "Toasters" were fast and very reliable. Now here we are witnessing the retirement of these speedsters.
Hopefully the new ACS units will be just as dependable. I've said this before, but I can't help chuckling in that to me their cab-faces resemble anime cartoon characters.

What was "Laid up good order" is now going BACK online,SEPTA's SL-V's have been pulled from service due to a structure defect in the truck frame. The manufacturer has gone "Belly Up" was a sub-contractor for Rotem. Figure on SEPTA "begging and borrowing" all over the NEC Commuter Fleets for coaches. Can "barely" run weekend type service with the remaining SL-IV's
