Is anyone doing anything with Kato N Metra stuff? A start would be to find a way to kitbash Metra-like stations. The Schaumbug station kit is one start, but it's pretty big. Here's the station at Elburn on the UP West Line. This one has a fairly standard Metra look, but there are other common designs. Has anyone run across other kitbash possibilities?

In N and HO,Design Presvation Models(part of Woodland scenics)aka:DPM Modular Building System parts could be used to create that station, you might look at City Classics as well.

Now that I think about it, it looks like the Elburn station is made up of standard components that could be rearranged from the Kato Schaumburg station kit. The footprint for the two is probably very similar, with the roof being the biggest difference. You could merge the windows from the main building and the shelter from the Kato kit. The Elburn station is the end of the commuter line and doesn't have a second platform and shelter like Schaumburg, so this might be doable: Does anyone know of other Metra stations using similar standard components like windows and pillars?

Is that a kit,or a "built up" model? If it's a kit,you should be able to rearrange the parts to what you need for Elburn station.

Then you're good to go "kitbashing" the station you need. Should be a fun project to do.
