All,
I'm interested in making a model of an Amtrak 1300-series 50' baggage car. After poking around I could only find mention of one company ever making a kit (Train Station Products), but it seems to be long out of production and not common on the used market. Does anyone know of another company who makes/made a model of these cars? Or does anyone have a suggestion for good kit to use as the starting point for a kitbash? Thanks!

AGES ago RMC did a kitbash of the Army Kitchen car/Baggage car/Power(HEP)car from a AHM/IHC/Riverossi smooth sided 85' Baggage car. That was the Baggage car used on the NEC in Amtrak's early years, was also turned into a HEP power car used with Amfleet cars behind GG-1's. There were other Army "Hospital" 85' cars turned into the "Le Pub" Lounge cars used on the "Montrealer" train between DC and Montreal Canada.
You might find the AHM/IHC/Riverossi cars on E(vil)Bay,figure on inflated prices as the cars are no longer made.

Appreciate the tip. I had done a little searching in magazine indexes without success, but based on your reply I think I found the article you're talking about. Thanks!

I wouldn't crank if someone quietly reposted that article. I feel like that car is as desirable as the more recent converted heritage baggage cars (also going for inflated fleabay prices). No good substitute for it!

You could also use the smooth side Baggage car done by Con Cor as kitbash material,am not thrilled by Current MSRP or E(vil)-Bay pricing.
