Hi all,
IHP's first new HO traction product designed from the start to take advantage of 3D printing technology will be ready very shortly. The Brill Bullet will soon be available for ordering.

The N scale version (available now) is shown here. The HO version will have thinner-profile door treads.
The Brill Bullets were built in 1931 for the Philadelphia&Western, a 13-mile
interurban line between 69th St. Terminal in Upper Darby, PA and Norristown, PA that is now part of the SEPTA system. The cars were designed in a wind tunnel and were capable of speeds up to 100mph. The last cars were retired by SEPTA in 1993 when the new N5 cars arrived.
This kit is designed exclusively with 3D printing in mind and will be sold from IHP's Shapeways.com Store. It will be available in 'a la carte' form. The body shell will be made available in pieces (ends, sides, roof) as we feel this makes the best use of the current limitations of the process to produce the best and cleanest parts. Assembly will be easy because locator tabs are molded onto the body parts, so just a little care and super glue will produce both a strong and true body shell.
Other parts, such as body details, underbody details, a frame (accepts the
Bowser drive) and Brill 89E2 truck sideframes (will fit the Bowser trucks) will also be available separately to go with the model.
Instructions will be available in the form of a PDF file available on the IHP
website for printing, download or viewing.
This is the first of a new series of kits for the HO traction modeler from IHP. We have largely now discontinued our range of HO resin traction kits and this range will ultimately replace it. A few items from our resin range may make the transition to Shapeways, but most of these new 3D kits will be all-new subjects that we either felt weren't practical to do by hand for resin, or just never got to do.
The Brill Bullet should be available within a week or so. When it's available
on our Shapeways shop, it will be posted here.
Thanks!
Mike Bartel
