The other day,I heard that Floquil/Poly Scale RR paints HAVE been discontinued by Testor's for their own internal reasons, the Military/RC paint lines were folded into the Model Master paint lines I prefer to use Poly Scale because it's water based, easy cleanup, solvent based Floquil can turn into a hazard with the extra bottles of thinner/brush cleaner needed needed for cleanup, the "smell" of solvent makes other family members "unhappy",etc... Sent a copy of a letter sent out to retailers, hobby shop owners over to the "boss"(acelaphillies) Scalecoat has a short "shelf" life to begin with, some shops keep a limited amount on hand at best. Any thoughts??

As an Mtrak modeler, what really concerns me is that platinum mist will be discontinued and there is really no other substitute.

Platinum mist is also the base of MNR and NJT paint schemes as well. And the MTA/LIRR scheme too.

Not sure if this happening at Testors,or just a rumor , Testors might be bringing back some of the basic RR colors back via the Military color line for scenery use. Also Micro-Mark might be developing a RR color line as well Have found that 70 % alcohol helps keep poly-scale paint use able for painting by brush.

On pages 876-878 of the 2015 Walters catalog Tru-Color Paint,a new supplier to Walters, seems to have "taken" the mantle from the now dead Flouquil/Polyscale lines. Sometime in 2015(Mar/Apr)they will release colors that will match at least MTA/LIRR colors, maybe MTA/MNCR colors as well. There are 2 minor details;1)Cannot be mixed with other paint brands, 2)Have to use their own thinner, reconmends using Acetone for Airbrush cleanout. MSRP's 1 oz $4.99,2oz $8.95,16 oz thinner $34.95.
