Taking a cue from how Amtrak brought the ACS-64's east, and the start of Amtrak's 45th year of service, this is a "What if" story, about a "barn find" that yielded an intact E-8 in phase I! (it's an AHM dummy with working electric pickups! Will install a fuction only or "soundbug" decoder, has a pilot plow(F-unit style) installed) 235 is dead in tow on my "what if" El Pasoan(# 214) from the Border to ABQ for possible restoration between "Pepsi Can" 516 and Ph IV 506,both P-32BWH's.

Bluford Shops Amtrak Cabin Car (caboose) 14032. It's a very nice model with a lot of detail and accurate lettering but a stand in model at best as it is not accurate to the prototype pictured below.

Are any of these transfer cabins still in use?

The photo of the actual car was taken last month in Philadelphia so they are still occasionally used on work trains, currently there is another one that has been sitting in Hunter St Yard in Newark NJ for a while.

A "test run" of sorts, when new,Budd voided the warranty on the RDC if they saw anything other than RDC coupled to RDC.(That didn't stop LIRR,they would tack a coach or RPO to a single RDC ),well the bus connection at Slocum City was not working well, when the Chief detoured on the RGV to the Boy Scout Camp,so a Amtrak RDC,from a museum back east was "repowered" with better running Detroit Diesel series 60 prime movers, passed inspection and ran well on test runs was sent west. However the "baggage" the scout troops carried need a place to be carried with the scouts,so the RGV sent over a 40 ft boxcar for the RDC to tow when running the branch line to trailhead at Mountain top NM. That car was rebuilt as an express car with "Allied full cushion trucks"(an Athearn part no less) Today's test was the "sandbag weighted" test run under mainline traffic. From the staging location of Montano, a couple of pics, waiting for the "Denver oil cans" to pass by and on the move at Twin Arrows at track speed. Attachments:

Picked up another P-40 at a swap meet a few weekends back, along with a few Walters Superliners, needed a little clean up and a coupler swapout(all had McHenry clones ). The suprise was the P-40(AMTK 809) was a DCC Ready Athearn RTR,in decent condition, added a DH-126 decoder and fresh oil on the bearings. Did test run it and the cars at the club setup along with P-42's 134 + 25. Attachments:

New layout location, more space = expansion. My Penn/BOS/GCT terminal is one such beneficiary. The entire platform area will be decked over to support an urban scene. Here is the ongoing progress of the platform and track area. Escalators will eventually be added as well.
