Hey guys, I just completed my River Point Station Ford F-250 pickup truck decaled for an Amtrak MOW pickup so I thought I would share. I started out with a River Point Station F-250 in MOW white. I put gloss coat on the model, then I applied custom decals that I made from the Micro-Mark inkjet decal paper. I then applied a satin finish and added license plates printed on copy paper. For the decals I made the Amtrak logo, the truck number, as well as lettering that reads: Bear, DE USDOT240318 This is found on many Amtrak MOW vehicles in the Northeast. I was happy with the decal paper, except that it seems to be a little thicker than Microscale. Unfortunately, on such a small model the edges stand out a little. I may add some more clearcoat to try to hide this. Here are additional photos: flic.kr/s/aHsjHFVuMVI hope you guys enjoy and maybe try this for yourselves. If anyone wants the artwork I would gladly send you the publisher file. -Daniel

Daniel, If it were not for the thick texture of the concrete surface it's sitting on, I would have been fooled and thought this was a prototype truck! Beautifully done. The photos on the link look good and, imho, the last 2 photos give away that it's possibly a model in looking at the inside of the rear wheel well and seeing the white of the pickup bed. Touching it up with flat-black on a #0 or #1 size paint brush would help simulate the factory undercoat.

You have a unique eye for catching easy things that can greatly improve the realism of a model. I appreciate your suggestion and will definitely do it. By giving suggestions like this you are helping us all to become better modelers. Thanks!

Fantastic job Acelaphillies! Let's put it in a scene! Paul I have not had any time to get down to the layout recently, so I apologize for the long delay. I finally did get some pictures yesterday however. I like how they came out. The Amtrak workers make a quick stop at the station before heading out. A closer shot. The truck heads out to a job. The crew goes out to diagnose a problem on a stranded LD train. Later, an Acela passes the MOW crew. Here is another shot. This road is purposely dirty because it is being dug up: That's all that I have for today. I hope you guys enjoy the pictures!
