Santa Fe had the habit of steam cleaning and repainting the trucks silver after each run, till the point of having to sand blast off all the layers of paint. Also went ever truck repairs/wheelset swapouts were done. Wow, that's amazing! I knew the Santa Fe was fussy about their image on their passenger trains, but I never knew that they went that far!

Not sure if that happened to sleepers from NYC or PRR that were switched on to/off of the Chief from the 20th Century Ltd or the Broadway Ltd at Chicago. Also all the passenger F's and B units got the same treatment! Most likely used 1,000 gal of silver paint a year.

Well, the new Walters trucks have arrived, and begun the process to test fit them to the cars, for the repair, you will need some 6-32 bolts, nuts, and washers, along with a 6-32 tap. Both the coach and diner repairs will be roughly the same, but might require a new bolster on the diner.

The washer pack is 0.145.5 inch/3.69 mm high, you will need to file/grind the washers to fit on the truck, also remove the "stabilizing" bars on the car floor to clear the truck screw heads. After testing, you will need to use Woodland Scenics "Accent glue" to keep the 6/32 screw from working itself loose, creating a derailment. The Digital Caliper I used can be found at Harbor Freight Tools. Attachments:

The Walters trucks for the Diner require a new bolster pad to be created, the pivot point moves toward the coupler on both ends of the car. Allowing the ACC to set for 48 hours before drilling. Attachments:
