Oooooooh you're an evil man! Ha ha Good topic here. I have toyed with the Cafe to Coach idea. www.railpictures.net/photo/503622How about this one?? I would hold off on the Cab cars for now. I have no info from Walthers on this just FYI, but I do know they are aware of the high demand for cab units. Anyone remember the short-lived "Ampad" that ran on the also short-lived Shenandoah train. The Ampad was an Amfleet I with a few roomettes installed. Tom

The Term "Ampad" a new one,but was aware of the test program for "Amroomette" when the first thoughs for the Viewliners started. Was a bit of a tight fit due to the bodyshell design, believe there were only 2 roomettes in 1 car.

IF anything, half lounge/half dinette, and a full lounge(aka Biz class). Need a better roof shot for the scanner gear on 100005's roof As a side note:the Bachmann Metroliner Shell can be fitted to the Bachmann Amfleet chassis. Americam View,Corridor Clipper, and 10005 thru the comm cable are supposed to work together with the data from the other 2 cars displayed on screens in American View. Amtk 100001,might be easier to use an Amfleet II shell for a starting point.

Amtrak's business/inspection fleet has always been a special intersest of mine. I still have to track down the 10005 in real life, but otherwise I have managed to catch them all at one point or another. It would be a really awesome modeling project but I'm not sure I am at that skill level yet to be able to pull of a build like that. Has anyone seen any of these cars modeled? The other day I saw a model of the Beech Grove and 10004 American View available on Shapeways.

I would love to do the new Viewliner inspection car! But I am waiting for the retooled Viewliners..... Um I mean the "possibly retooled Viewliners" to come out. I think I may do the half business class seating (2-1 burgundy leather seats) in my other A-I cafe. Tom

Started a "American View" project, but need to replace the destroied "Bolster Anchor Radius Rods" part, picked up the car "used" at a swap meet,it was modfied to run on 18' radius curves and the previous owner ruined the factory coupler mounts as well. :

This might be a bit "off the wall",but how about rehabbing older cars to allow consist swapping in"backround" trains on the layout/setup on "operating session" night. Just picked up and started a rehab project of a Amfleet I "Amdinette" car,a possible early Walters/American GK model in phase I(no arrow)paint.

Found a set af Amfleet I's in phIII paint, they are the eariy Walters cars(American GK molds) With that modded Bachmann Amfleet I now have 4 car set 1 car is "food service",may have found a use for my MN P-32,a "what if" Pittsfield train a joint operation of Amtrak and ConnDOT that was a "political favor" 403(b)train started in the waning days of PC and lasted till HRRC got the "Danbury Cluster" from CR. The set was rigged as push-pull with a MN Comet/Shoreliner I cab car. (This would be a good place for a Horizen set and 1 ConnDOT Shoreliner)

On the Viewliner II thread in the RR.net Amtrak forum, there's a link to a photo of the 1st 2 View II's heading north to Sunnyside, they are setup to work on push-pull trains as well, along with the blue comm and white dummy plug, they have the black plug for the MU trainline. This is the first good car end shot I have seen of the View II end.
