Dinner trains are considered a subset of Tourist trains, slowly rolling across the countryside,"good" food and adult bevages(most of the time. 1 of the better examples could be the Napa Valley wine train in Ca,there are others across the US and Canada Basic consist, power, baggage or Combine car for supply storage and crew space,Diner,Lounge car(opt), 1-2 coaches and possibily a lounge/obs or a cafe/obs for 1st class service

The Napa Valley Wine train is in a league of its own: There are others in California, including the Sierra and the Fillmore & Western, but they aren't as well run and aren't as attractive. Athearn and Bachmann have a start, if very approximate, on NVRR equipment.

Athearn did a run of various Napa Valley cars,at least 2 different Obs cars and a single dome tank car. There may have been a boxcar as well.

They did the different obs, coaches, and a diner. Bachmann did a smooth side version of its Santa Fe great dome painted for Napa Valley. Athearn did F7s for the Napa Valley, but the NVRR locos are FPA4s. However, Rapido has announced these in NVRR. Athearn also has done box and cabooses and a single dome tank as well as the current 3-dome. The NVRR has several ex SP bay window cabooses used for ticket offices and MW service. Most of the actual NVRR coaches are ex-Ski Train, exx NP.

The ex-NP coaches are sometimes refered to as "Opera" cars by my club's DRGW "expert"(he is a writer for the magazine for the Rio Grande Historical Soicality)due to the window arrangement. This consist could "double" as a typical consist from the Denver to Craig Co passenger service, "back in the day".
