I've been thinking of adapting one these shells to a Kato P.S. chassis with the interior and lighting. Has anyone tried this or can think of any major pitfalls?

Figure on chewing up some X-acto blades to remove some flash and some putty to fill in some of the "pits" in the shell. Also fine sandpaper for smoothing out the shell. Do this work outside if you can,to keep the wife happy, resin dust gets everywhere real quick. Take a look at the Comet Thread in the NE forum,as member slowfreight is working on a Comet I bodyshell for some more tips. When you get the shell on that chassis, test run it on the layout before final painting/finshing.

Yeah, that's the car. I haven't actually made any purchases yet, I'm just kind of wondering if it'd be possible. They must be fairly dimensionally close. I really wish Kato would just go ahead and make these, I really like the P.S. gallery cars I already have. This is a link to it. islandmodelworks.com/Chicagocommuter.html

That kit comes with a chassis, you could replace the trucks with Walters trucks if needed, Believe the CB&Q was the 1st to use the Gallery car,and HEP by using the baggage space in a combine to house the genset. All of the E's in the Zephyer pool spent time in commuter service between runs of the Zephyer fleet.

Its funny, back in the late ninties Train Station Products listed Budd Bi-levels in the Walthers catalogue as TBA. Are they still operating? I'd guess they Would have been somewhat based on the El Cap car kits they make.

Train Station Products were listed on pg 139 in Walters 2014 catalog, they are NOT listed in the current(2015)Walters Catalog. Their manufacturer # was 732,unknown if they were dropped ,or went"belly up"

I looked last night and they still have an active web page. But no mention of Budd gallery cars.

I'd guess they Would have been somewhat based on the El Cap car kits they make. These were never released, as I'm sure you've guessed by now. It just leaves more room for someone to do these cars correctly.
