I thought they made N scale Viewliners and Amfleets for years? Are you referring to the Viewliner II's? This is the first time Kato is offering Amfleet II's and Viewliner I sleeper Kato had only Amfleet I's,may have done Heritage Sleeper in N already. A side note:Kato announced a single level "Bookcase" model of the SouthWest LTD in N to be done in phase II paint KATO has had Viewliners and Amfleet IIs out for years. They've been on display at MB Kleins for years as I always stoop to look at them when I visit. It's the Amfleet I's that they had recently released to go with their ACS 64. Prior to that they only had Amfleet IIs and Viewliners that they've sold as a set along with a P42 or individually. It says "New" on their website but they are re-releases (Amfleet II's and Viewliners) unless they re-tooled them. The "New" may refer to new road numbers. Kyle

That set may date back a few years, may have missed the original AD for that. The "kicker" is none of the Local N scale guys have run this set on their modules at a public show.

Believe it or not, I've noticed the same thing and I thought about that when responding to your earlier reply. I've only noticed N-scale superliners the last few times I've gone to shows. I don't recall ever seeing N-scale viewliners or Amfleet IIs in action on the layouts (this is not to say that they aren't out there). I've noticed the METRA and VRE stuff out on layouts more so than the viewliners which is a bit odd since I live on the east coast and all the shows I've been to have been in the east.

The only time I've seen a Viewliner out here(ABQ,NM)was when Joe Boardman made that inspection run from Topeka to ABQ,that was the debut run of American View away from the NEC,along with Beech Grove,Staff sleeper Pacific Cape and a Viewliner Sleeper for the security detail.(Amtrak PD) They were all in ph IV back then. A Viewliner I is a strange car to see in Superliner territory I hope to see some N scale Amtrak trains running at "Rails Across the Rio Grande 2016" show this Nov. After Last years show was canned due to higher level security requirements imposed on the Armory, this years show will happen at the Cid Cutter Pilot Pavilion on the Balloon Fiesta Grounds.

The first 2 Chargers are catching a tow to Pueblo on the CZ to Denver, like ACS-64's 600 and 601 did. From a "youtube" video, the SC-44's are a hair taller and a hair wider than the P42's pulling them. Wonder if Kato has the first "dibs" on creating this as a model??

Funny that for everything Bachmann does wrong in scale trains, they've been a reliable source for the newest Amtrak power. Here's hoping they don't take silly shortcuts.

From the pics I saw,Roof details look good. As a side note, for anybody modeling the Auto Train,or the Three Rivers Mail,Express train, Bachmann is making a "FRED" in HO scale.
