Amtrak's president,Joe Boardman is making a "farewell tour" before retiring,the consist has American View,Beech Grove,
Staff sleeper Pacific Cape,a View I sleeper,and Dome Ocean View,with ph III units 822 and 145 as power
Will move as a passenger extra from Kansas City to El Paso with overnight layovers at Lajunta,ABQ,and El Paso.
This will be the first Amtrak train on the El Paso Sub of BNSF(ex-ATSF) since the last detoured Sunset Ltd
ran north to Belen years ago.
If you needed a reason to run the "Biz Fleet" together,here it is!

Last friday was very busy at Downtown ABQ,the "Farewell Tour" with Amtrak 145 as lead had arrived at 245p #3(4) was running 51 min late and #4(4) was running 5 hours 45 min late,and the start of the PM rush on NMRX. Everything piled together around 6:00p with #4 arriving first,then NMRX train 513 to Belen came out of the yard #3 was held north of the platforms while #4 and NMRX did their station stops. #3 also was to pickup 3 private cars headed to LAUS,a dome and 2 sleepers,1 was SP,the other was Frisco. X AMTK 145 West with 822,Beech Grove(phIIIa),Pacific Cape(phIIIa),a View I sleeper(phIV),the "Super Dome" Ocean View(phIIIa), and American View(phIV) with the markers #4 had a View II Bag and a Heritage Bag on the head end,the Heritage Bag #1241 was on the way to retirement at Beech Grove.  Amtrak borrowed BNSF 8101 as a switcher for the private cars for #3. The 3 private cars are leased to the "Millennial Train Project". |

Part 5,While #4 was on the 383 yard track,# 3 was held just north of the platform on # 1 Main, to allow passengers to reach #4 and the NMRX Trains,after # 4 was cleared to move,# 3 was allowed to enter the platform area |
