This was how Amtrak "recycled" F40ph's into "combo" baggage/cabcars for the Cascades service, and 1 set of ex-NJT "Commarrows" in San Joaquin service pool. While Rapido is producing "powered" versions of the NPCU,in "real life" they are 1:1 "Dummy" units, most were gutted and a concrete floor poured where the prime mover and altenators were installed. The bodysides were changed with a rollup door installed midships to allow baggage loading on both sides, except for AMTK 403,it was kept it's "stock" look, and had a F59 HEP power pallet installed for use with the Exibit Train as back up HEP Attachments:

Every "blue moon" or so,the "train set" Lifelike F40ph will "pop up" at a swap meet or show, as a powered + dummy set,or in this case, the dummy alone,in ph II no less! Attachments:

Got this started by removing the truck mounted couplers, and some of the sheet metal weights, then drilled/tapped for 2-56 screw and nuts, installed a KD-118 on the rear and a KD-26 on the front, using the nuts to set the height. Also removed the oversized front plow. Attachments:

Using some sheet stock, filled in the pilots and mounted a Details west pilot plow. Also used the Secnic accent glue to secure the 2-56 nuts holding the couplers in place Attachments:
