Just checked the Atlas website and the AEM-7's have been pushed back yet again to 3rd Quarter 2017.
I'm curious to how well these are going to sell, especially with the Bachmann ACS-64 on the way. Now if Atlas has plans to do more commuter cars or expand the line down the road, (i.e., Amfleets, Horizons, etc.) to go along with the AEM-7, then these should sell out. But at this point these might end up being shelf fodder in some stores, especially since there aren't any new Amfleet, Horizon or Comet coaches available in the stores right now.
Thoughts?

The factory Atlas is using is "booked solid" till some time in the summer,or the first chance to get a container on a ship to the US will be in late summer.
From the end of July till end of Oct is the peak shipping season for goods to sold during the "X-mas" shopping season in the US and Canada
This is also the time major retailers like Walmart reserve "blocks" of space on the container ships headed to US and Canadian ports on the west coast, which can "bump" 1-2 container shipments to the US

After a long period with no news on the Atlas AEM-7, I came across an exciting page for those waiting on these models: projects.esu.eu/projectoverviews/search?cat=2&q=Aem-7This is the sound file page for the AEM-7 on the LokSound website. It was posted in late August 2017, which signifies that Atlas is indeed busy working on this project! I was starting to think that they might cancel it... The due date on the ESU website even says "Fall 2017". Some interesting details can be gleaned from this web page. For example, you can look at all the functions on the decoder. It looks like the models will have operating head lights, marker lights, and strobe lights! However, I don't see any ditch lights, which I was really hoping for . Hopefully they arrive before the end of 2017!

The ESU sound files are set up as .esux, requiring a download of the "Lokprogrammer v4" software to read the file. There are times when JMRI cannot guide you to the right cv to change. The actual "Lokprogrammer" is a seperate module to buy, with a power supply, might be something a club buys and shares with it's membership as more models use ESU as the factory installed decoder.

The latest update on Atlas' website now states 4th Quarter 2017. I would think a container ship would have to be on the water already for these to get into the stores by Xmas. At this point I'm betting on 1st or 2nd Quarter of 2018.

With some of the changes in personel at Atlas, should read the production/container schedules with a grain of salt for now. Figure on some rearanged schedules to be posted by years end.

The delay has hurt their sales from my (personal) end. The delay combined with the upcoming ACS-64, all my funding was re-directed towards the sprinters.
Fortunately for Atlas, the Multi-levels have swayed me (at least) to a pair of ALP-44s with sound but my AEM7 purchasing days are essentially over but never say never.

The Atlas MLV II's will be used as MBTA ML coaches(as possible "K" Car/Rotem Clones)with the MBTA GP-40 "stand in" model AKA,the "FrankenGeep" due to MBTA's customized specs.
With Bachmann doing the ACS-64 model, wonder if they have the "inside track" to do a licensed model of the SEPTA ACS-64, or a licensed Model of the Charger SC-44 for the Amtrak "Midwest service" stated owned units.

There are rumors going around that Bachmann already plans to do SEPTA when the prototype becomes available. I doubt the charger will be made available anytime soon but I could be wrong. There are already substantial differences between the Sprinter and Charger so it's not as easy of an adaptation.

The other possibility might be Athearn, with an adapted drive of the P-40/42 models.

Generally speaking I think there's a better change the model will even be produced if Amtrak were to buy that engine off the shelf but my I doubt that they will. They have a large enough fleet requirement that they can spec out their own custom locomotive to replace the P40/P42.

I have to agree. My hobby dollars will probably go to the ACS-64. I already have a few AEM-7's and unless the Phase V AEM-7 has working ditch lights, I'm holding off purchasing. There's just too many other models hitting the streets soon (Athearn SDP40F, Rapido F40 Modenized & Cabbage, Atlas Phase V Gensets, Athearn F59PHI w/DCC & Sound as well as the ACS-64) to wait for one model that may possibly never appear.
