Good catch and thanks for posting. The YouTube videos of this locomotive doing test trials on the NEC has a ton of views. It'll be a sad day when the P42's start to fade off into the sunset. I wonder what Amtrak has planned for eventually replacing the dual mode P32ACDM.
I'm putting in my early guess for who might pick this up for HO production...65% chance Bachmann (Bachmann doing the ACS-64 gives them the odds on favorite), 25% chance Athearn and 9% chance Atlas.
I'm leaving a 1% chance for Scale Trains. After seeing their UP Turbine at the LHS, I would love for them to produce this as their first passenger locomotive.

The Current Athearn underframe for the P-40/42 could work for a SC-44 model, however there's a whole lot of underframe equipment boxes on a SC-44.

There's word that a P 40 (#828)has been pulled from the deadline at Bear for a"possible upgrade". When the HSP-46 was built at MPI's Boise Id shop,GE supplied the EVO prime mover and the Electrical gear. At that time GE offered a "repower kit" for Locos allowing for a tier IV EVO prime mover and an upgrade to AC traction motors. Unknown if the plan is to use this "kit" on the 828 as a test bed for rebuilding the P42's and P40's still in service.

Since early Oct the "midwest fleet" state owned Chargers have been on the CHI-MILW trains running alone,to take some of the squeeze off the Amtrak P-42's In Ca,on the Capital Corridor route,Amtrak-CA has put the Chargers in service, easing the load on the F59phi fleet. Hopefully if you are travelling during this Holiday Season, you might see the chargers in action.
Due to a Failed "Crush test" at the factory in Rochelle IL,Nippon-Sharyo has been replaced by Siemens. The Cars will be single level, based on the PR II A Specs and the already built "Brightline" cars awaiting to enter service for "All Aboard Florida"
