I had a hunch after the success of the ACS-64, this was going to get announced, but I didn't think it was going to be this soon.
From Bachmann's web page:
BACHMANN DEVELOPS THREE NEW TRAIN MODELS FOR SIEMENS MOBILITY
Following the success of the HO scale Siemens ACS-64 model train, Bachmann Industries is excited to announce three brand-new HO products: the Charger SC-44 passenger locomotive, the S70 light rail vehicle, and a single-level mainline passenger car. Bachmann has committed to producing full-featured models similar to the ACS-64 with DCC sound and lighting functions using Siemens Mobility’s original design documentation, and sound files for all three projects. Siemens’ Charger diesel-electric locomotive boasts high-speed, high -efficiency and clean energy performance, and their sleekly modern S70 has been adopted by many light rail systems across the United States. Their inter-city passenger car uses the latest engineering to offer passengers an extremely comfortable ride while providing state-of-the-art conveniences. Bachmann’s Charger models will be the first out of the gate, with a 2020 delivery date. “Combining Siemens’ acclaimed designs and Bachmann’s modeling expertise, all three products will be sure to thrill any hobbyists who model in the modern era,” said Rich Janyszek, Bachmann’s Senior Vice-President of Sales and Marketing. Spearheading the effort are Dave Ward, Chief Advisor for Siemens Mobility, and Larry Harrington, Vice-President of Product Development for Bachmann Trains.

Bachmann is trying to one up Athearn's quiet announcement at Springfield Wonder if they already have the needed license from Amtrak,Brightline/Virgin Rail US,possibly Amtrak-CalDOT and SDNX(Coaster). Website link

This locomotive will eventually get the same treatment as a F7A locomotive...every model company will have their version.
If Athearn does decide to the do SC-44, I hope they give it the same amount of detail as the Genesis SDP40F.
I suspect Bachmann may not do all the roads that use this locomotive. Brightline, MARC, Amtrak & possibly Metro North could get done by Bachmann since those railroads use single level passenger cars which was included in their announcement.
Athearn will probably do all Amtrak corridors, as well as ACE, Coaster, VIA Rail, the Northern Lights Express, Metro North & maybe Brightline. However, I don't see Athearn doing the next generation single level cars though. Outside of the BBD cars, they don't produce full length passenger cars. So maybe Walthers or Atlas will also get into the mix.
Athearn supposedly is going to retool the Bombardier double deck cars to add some bells & whistles, so maybe that's when Athearn will make their SC-44 announcement.

MN and ConnDOT are not yet confirmed for "Dual mode" Chargers, due to weight issues,Seimens might use the same cure as EMD with the FL-9 A "B"truck on the front, then a 3 axle "A-1-A" truck on the rear to carry the weight load. This could be a four way joint order for Amtrak,MN,ConnDOT,and LIRR. One of the issues is a Capacitor like energy storage module to jump the 3rd rail gaps at NY Penn and GCT,keeping the HEP stable as well. The gaps thru all the puzzle switches at NY Penn the longest.
The active SC-44 Fleets are Amtrak-Caltrans,WSDOT/ORDOT for the Cascades,ILDOT for Amtrak-Midwest,and MARC Known order for Coaster(SDNX)out of San Diego possibly the Altamont Commuter Express(ACE). Known orders of a LD version of the Charger is Amtrak, and VIA Rail
The Power on the Brightline/Virgin Rail US is interrelated with the car sets under a different model number.
BBD changed the Cab car design for Metrolynx(GOT)after the Metrolink(SCAX)wreck at Oxnard Ca (Train vs AG equipment service truck +fuel trailer on the track) to provide better collision protection

RMC did the Bachmann Charger review in the Jan 2021 issue starting on pg 22,With factory installed sound decoder bt TCS/Wowsound,heavy enough to pull UNLUBED Walters Amfleet cars with ease. NEW Wrinkle,Function 17 activates a "Alerter feature" If you don't tweak any throttle setting the train goes into an emergency stop mode like the prototype,,so no set and forget if f-17 is active.
