Hello everyone.
New to this forum and stumbled in through the backdoor a little while ago in my search for info about restoring/rehabbing/ at a minimum get it to run... Bachmann Metroliners. Through efforts at train shows and participation in other model train forums, I have cobbled together 4 or 5 ML units including 2 powered units in various states of disrepair. Does anyone have schematics or drawings to assist in getting the powered units to run more reliably?
Thanks.
I really enjoyed the Walther/Bachmann comparison. I hope to do that metallizing- that really makes them stand out.

They are not bad detail wise, but the "Pancake" motor is a lost cause to repair.NWSL should still have the "flea" motorized truck till the end of July 2019.Check the website HO Seeker if they have a .pdf file of the Bachmann Metroliner

I'll add some photos as I tear into these.

If you have a Bachmann Amfleet car,you can swap the Metroliner shell on the Amfleet underframe to create a Cab car Remember to swap the Metroliner truck sideframes as well. They are mounted on 2 pins off the inner truck frame,as are the Bolster brackets on the Early Bachmann Amfleet I's.

Hi Jadefog.
I think I can be of help, as far as realistic metalizing for a stainless steel finish. Below are a few Bachmann Metroliner shells that I worked on years back: My plan was to finish and decal them to the Penn Central scheme. I stopped working on them as I started focusing on my SCL passenger car projects. Do you have an airbrush and a compressor that provides clean air? If you're interested, let me know.

Hi,
I continue to use them for testing Alclad and basecoat color finishes.
Are you looking for Metroliners or just the shells? The Bachmanns do show up on ebay regularly. As of this written post (6/18/2019), there are currently 2. One going at $9.99, the other at $29.99. Of course that can change.
Now there are A LOT of Walthers Metroliners on the bay as well, unfortunately they are high on price. But I suspect that as time moves on, they'll actually start coming down. As of this post, there is a "Buy it Now" Walthers unit for $90.

Have 4 Metroliner shells,2 are on (Bachmann) Amfleet underframes as cab cars, the other 2 are a "What if" married pair of SPV-2000's with a NWSL drive truck. All were ph I scheme, but the heavy pad printing is not easy to strip off,a slow process at the cab ends using 90% alcohol. All had broken pilots.so wind up using "weed cutter" plows as the replacement pilot
The heavy paint hid some fitment issues between the cab and bodyshell, will need to tend to that with filler.
