Thanks for checking out the Passenger & Commuter Modeler's forum! Below are a few rules that I have put in place to keep this place running smoothly. Please exercise proper behavior and common courtesy on this forum!! I know sometimes it can be tempting to write something online, that you probably would not say to that person face-to-face, but behind each username is a person. I don't want to have to discipline people, but I have the power and I will exercise it when necessary. So, here are the general rules.
1. No foul language- please as a courtesy thing just keep it clean. This includes explicit words and religious interjections. And changing one letter, misspelling, or adding a symbol doesn't make it better!. If I see it I will change it and there is an auto-replace feature. I don't want to seem like a nitpick, but I don't have that many rules. I feel like without foul language it makes the entire forum a nicer atmosphere overall.
2. No spamming- please REPORT TO ME RIGHT AWAY. This is just advertising for unrelated things, usually done by someone who joins just to advertise on the forum. I am perfectly fine with you linking to another forum or website, even in your signature. Just don't make it excessive.
3. ABSOLUTELY NO INSULTING OTHER'S WORK- constructive criticism is good, especially if they ask for pointers. And recommendations are great! However, I will not tolerate people deriding other people's modeling. There will be consequences. I don't care how bad it looks, people put a lot of work into their models. If you don't like how it turned out, keep your mouth shut. They are just enjoying the hobby.
Example of good and bad:
"Guys, I just finished up a project this weekend"
Good: I like the ______, if you do another one I would suggest trying _________ method. It worked with great results for me!
Bad: Wow, I think some of my shells in my junk drawer look better!!! You really got out of hand with the drill too didn't you! Have you ever thought about taking up quilting and giving up model railroading?!!
4. No personal attacks- we want this to be a model railroad discussion site, not a boxing match.
Thanks in advance for following these basic rules! I hope this can be a place for great discussion and learning. And please, do your best to keep your posts on-topic.
I will update these rules if I feel there is a need, but until then that's it!
Thanks,
Daniel
