In the process of rehabbing a Mantua/Tyco 0-4-0T for "tourist/ passenger" use. Have already stripped, cleaned and repainted the frame and running gear, polished the "bearing brasses" as well, got the original "Pittman" motor cleaned up and running added lube oil as needed(LaBelle #10) When testing the running gear on DCC(00), used a clamp type meter, the amp draw was between .29-.35 amp. A Digitrax DH-123 or DN-143 will handle the amp draw fine. The Question becomes:Is it worth the effort to convert this to a "Can" type motor or retain the "Pittman" motor?? (Already have an idea to isolate the chassis grounded brush) IN the early years of DCC,it became routine to pitch an old "Pittman" motor due to the amp draw, then repower with a "can" motor(mostly steam engines). Am trying to retain the model as original as possible,as Mantua is believed to be "extinct"
