Nicely done,do you plan to "weather" the models,or leave them "clean"?

fl9, thanks for sharing! That is a nice collection that you have there! Those comparison shots between the F40PH-2 and the MP36PH-3C are especially interesting. It is neat how designs change over time. The rear ends of those locomotives look almost identical, but the fronts are drastically different.

It would be intresting to attempt the soot trail on the noses of the HSP-46's, and the MP-36's.

Hi Cab4,
Sweet looking fleet.
If you don't mind (I'm a big fan of electric "bricks") could you please provide some info about your New Jersey Transit E60? Looks nice! Is it a Bachmann or Walthers unit?
An old picture from 2010, but not a bad one. My NJT fleet has expanded a little, I have an extra ALP44 and ALP46, though they both need work (as does the ALP46 in the photo, which now has a drive). These are just the electric locomotives. I have several diesels, as well, but I haven't been able to do another "group shot".

Having a pair of Bachmann E-60CF's,(buried deep in the deadline)believe they were single truck "pancake" drives back when Bachmann did the 1st gen run of the E60's. Built for the Black Mesa and Lake Powell RR,an isolated coal mine to/from power plant RR. They were way to boxy to fit in the North or East River Tubes.

Antonio, The E60 was an old American GK unit that I custom painted. Walthers eventually bought American GK and produced an NJ Transit unit, though all they did was slap on Disco Stripes to an Amtrak version. You would have to add some black paint around the cabs to get it right. Ultimately, once you clean up the drives a little, these are great units, if a little loud.

Some cool stuff- New York Central T3a CR/NJ DOT GP40P. Apparently Conrail actually owned these things until 1983. I think it had something to do with the C&O being a part owner. Lots of shiny Amfleets with an American GK E60 at the club. Its a shame the new truck design rolls so poorly. These are worse than the older cars! Silverliner IVs under Reading Catenary at the East Penn Traction Club Convention. B1 switcher. Not quite a mainline locomotive, but they did spend most of their time in passenger coach yards.

The new run of Walters Amfleet need to be lubed, having inside bearing trucks as Athearn current run locos have. Might need to checked and need to be deburred to improve on track running Great photos!!

Like backshophoss said, the parts guy at Walthers confirmed to me that they were shipped without lubrication and that we as modelers would have to add it. I prefer it that way so that you don't run the risk of someone in China adding way too much oil, as has happened with some products in the past. Cab4, where can I find NJDoT decals like you used? I have some GN cars to reletter.

Unfortunately, lube seems to make these cars worse. The only thing that has worked so far is the graphite powder, but I'm not to happy with that stuff either! Some people were using something called conductalube, but I'll have to try it.
Regular labelle oil takes the grinding away but it doesn't help them roll better.
The NJ DOT decals on the GP40P came from a Tom's Model Trains decal sheet. The other cars are Rapido RTR. Those cars vaguely simulate the ex-KCS cars owned by the CNJ, but they are not perfect. That said, good luck finding an RTR CNJ-NJDOT coach worth its salt! They look nice enough to not complain.

You may need to check for burrs or roughness in the bearings or axles. Use a small round file on the bearing block axle hole, emery cloth,to smooth the axle shaft. Clean, relube, and install back on the truck frame.
