I'm convinced that there will be re-done Comet commuter cars, simply because I have now begun upgrading my old cab cars with Sound Car Decoders. This more or less guarantees that they will announce it soon, if they haven't somehow announced it yesterday.
Anyways, here is my list-
1:) Commuter GP40 Variants (specifically CNJ/NJT, but i'm open) 2:) ACS-64 3:) Center-Door Style Comet/Shoreliner cars. Not only are the walthers models dated, but center door types add variety. The resin kits are nice, but I'd like something I don't have to fiddle with (which is my primary draw to the old Walthers Comets). 4:) "Modern" PRR/PC P70s (probably a safe bet in reality) 5:) Reruns of the undec PRR Broadway cars (need them 21 Roomette sleepers!) 6:) More Jersey Arrows, POWERED (long shot) 7:) SDP40F 8:) P30CH 9:) Amtrak GP7/9s 10:)High-Intake Side-Step GG1 (these were numerous and have not been done before, all Amtrak silver GG1s were of this type)

I am going to throw in my list here, all HO scale 1. Amtrak Horizon fleet cars in the modern paint schemes, and Undecorated. Along these lines, decals for the MSU Spartan Line Coach 2. Viewliners. Self explanatory 3. Amtrak's new baggage cars that resemble Viewliners 4. More Amtrak Roadrailers from Bowser. 5. Another run of Atlas 8-32BWH 6. Amtrak Cab Cars. I think Walthers could reasonably do them and make them look good

Welcome to the board, firemedicmike,Believe Bowser is about to do another run of Roadrailers, in a twist of fate,NS has shut down about 98% of their Roadrailer operations, with 1 or 2 lanes still in use,for Auto parts

Hi Mike,
I'd like to see an SPV, personally. When produced some years ago, I had found out about them too late.
Additionally, while Amtrak not commuter, a correct roof blister and underframe for an overhauled Metroliner would be something else I'd be interested in.

Hey Mike,
How about a good Comet I? They've gone to Caltrain and FrontRunner since NJT started purging them. Not sure where else the cars have gone.

New member, but long time commuter modeler and fan, my list would be as follows (all HO Scale);
- Amtrak ACS-64 - Amtrak Metroliner Cab Car (Current or previous design) - SEPTA Silverliner V (RTR) - IHP?? - SEPTA ALP44 - MARC passenger cars - just any at all would be nice...
Still building my collection, looking out for whatever SEPTA equipment I can find.

A huge fan of one oddball: SPV-2000 Outside of that, a Pooch would be nice. You've mentioned the SPV before! :-) I like it too, but I'm afraid there's not enough interest in it. Besides all-new tooling, and licensing to sell it in both Amtrak and MNCR schemes, there's not enough interest in the SPV for the minimum quantity a run produced in China would require.

I'd agree completely. Do you think the ends and roof blister would be a possibility from even Shapeways work? Those are the parts that would require a greater consistency when creating multiple models. The rest I can do, even though it's a good amount of work.

It actually makes more sense to do a complete conversion kit in 3D. Make it fit an HO Amfleet car (but not for the old Walthers tooling because the body cross section isn't right). Some scratchbuilding would be required to cut out new windows and maybe make the fillets at the stepwell/side sill area. The ends and roof radiator are obvious, but the underbody is all unique and should be done, also stepwells and new doors. Might be an idea if someone were willing to sponsor it?

If not the Walters, how about the Bachmann Amfleet/Metroliner bodyshells?

If not the Walters, how about the Bachmann Amfleet/Metroliner bodyshells? The new Walthers shell would be the best starting point. For me, adding the stepwells and the small window (which a Metroliner "half" window could probably work) would certainly be a good amount of work, but do-able. While I don't look forward to the chassis, I view it as something more workable than the other add-ons (including the intakes on the side of the car) It's work, and a lot of it, but why not? -Tom

Both old and new Bachmann Amfleet cars and the new Walthers cars all have the correct body cross section. An underframe could be made for 3D that uses the Stanton drive. Essentially, you'd get everything for an SPV except the body shell. That's what I'd envision if I were doing it.

That would work fine by me,the Bachmann Amfleet cars are easy enough to find at a swap meet at a decent price. Swapping out the end pieces and installing the roof blister. Side Benifit, the underframe of the Amfleet car can be used to create a Metroliner cab car,the Metroliner shell fits fine with a minor mod at the cab end
