Hey guys! As 2015 winds down, here is a fun topic to talk about which models we would most like to see announced in 2016. They can be from any passenger or commuter agency. I'll start:
I am at a point in my life where my budget is definitely limited, so in order to paint a realistic picture I will break my list into different categories:
Most wanted models that I would definitely buy:
-Metroliner Cab Car Phase IVb
-AEM-7AC Phase V
-Microscale Phase IVb decal sheet
Models that I would like to see, but would probably stretch my budget:
-Commuter Comets, NJT and SEPTA in plastic
-NJT ALP-46s and Multilevel in plastic
-Viewliner Sleepers Phase IVb with a metal finish and interior
In order to maintain a budget, I am trying to stick to a 2011 era for my acquisitions. For that reason, if an ACS-64 or Viewliner II model was announced, although I would be interested, I might have to let it pass by.
That's it for me. I am interested to hear what you guys have on your wish lists!

Know it has been said many times but someone PLEASE, comets/shoreliners are badly needed. A RTR Multilevel would be nice too... The walthers Horizons have outlived their luster something up to today's standards would be great.
There's a market for commuter stuff. Athearn could make a cash cow out of their Genesis GP40 if they made a variation for NJT (hell even CDOT close enough) but that's a wild dream for another thread...

A retooled run of Horizen Fleet/Comet II's/Shoreliner I's,Viewliner I and II cars.
A run of the Comet III's/Shoreliner II's with the Center Door at mid carside.
A run of the Tri-Rail/Metrolink Rotem cars,both Coach and Cab Car versions.
Walters should do some of the SurfLiner Cab/Baggage,and "Food service" cars.
Athearn should do the newest version of the BBD "sausage" Cab Car for GOT.

Agree with all the above.
Would love to see Athearn do another run of Bombardier cars for 2016. If not Athearn, I would love for Rapido to pick up the baton and do the Bombardier cars for Go Transit and the other agencies and done with all the bells & whistles.
Hopefully 2016 will bring announcements for Nippon Sharyo Gallery Cars, more subway cars, and the California/Surliner Cars.

This may be thread hijacking, but here's my interim solution for Comet IIs:  Mike Bartel and I have kicked back and forth doing Comet I's. He already has tooling for Comet III coaches, and seems willing to run them again if he knows that the interest is there. Commuter modeling will always be a strange mix of ready-to-run and hard-core modeling skillz. I ordered an undec Rapido F40PH and will scrap out one of my Kato units in order to build a good RTA Phase I unit. None of my Kato or Walthers bilevels are layout-ready without work but that's ok by me. The Atlas and Athearn GP40-2L, on the other hand, is a total gift as they are essentially correct right out of the box. I have been making glacial progress of late, but things will pick up in 2016 after we get settled in to the new house. |

Ummm...just to get the thread back on track, here's my wish list: Budd stainless bilevels in the Milwaukee and RTA variations RTA F40PH from Rapido (preferably after I finish my own kitbash) Amtrak Pines-series sleeper after the mid-1970s HEP rebuild in Phase II paint Amtrak F40PHR in Phase II and Phase III paint Ex-metroliner cab car, circa 1990 for Hiawatha and Wolverine service The cascading effect of this will be to find 2-3 more Amfleets in Phase III colors, plus about 3 gallery cars to paint Amtrak Phase III...maybe kitbash one as the 9600/9601 (ex 600/903 snack lounge cars) web.archive.org/web/20050110071324/http://hebners.net/Amtrak/amtBiLev/amt9601.jpgMustn't forget that Amtrak cab cars were not Pullman-built, but ICG-built and therefore must also be kitbashed. Lots of cascading projects I can blame on the release of a single locomotive.... And when the SDP40F hits the shelves, I'll nab 1 or 2 of them. I'm ok if the IHP P30CH comes out in 2017 when I have more time to build it. Plus, it will require me to build Amtrak bilevels in Phase I paint, since all the others will be too new to go behind a Pooch. Dangit. |

Slow freight: That should work out fine!  I will 2nd Acelaphillies need of phase IV decals,the "detail" labels and car names,numbers too. Walters will hopefully do the Metroliner cab car,A "Pacific Parlor" in phase IV would be nice as well. We seem to be forgetting the "bit players",the roadswitchers like the GP 38-3 and GP 15's that Amtrak uses for yard switching and rescue service. MN's and ConnDOT's BL20's would be nice as well.  |

Amtrak Phase I, II and Penn Central E8HEP w/o port holes!
The return of Walthers Fallen Flag series. D&H and EL are seriously unrepresented in passenger rail.
Walthers Amtrak Budd cars under the Proto line with the plated finish in Phase I, II & III is needed.
A re-release of Atlas Amtrak Dash 8-32BHW in Phase III, IV, and V with DCC & LokSound installed.
A re-release of Atlas Amtrak GP40, (a GP40TC would be nice) with DCC & LokSound.

That would be easy enough for Walters to attempt,starting with the Metroliner drive mech,
would need to do a different underframe with the proper details for Amtrak(ConnDOT)and MN
Rapido is for now MAXXED out with the RDC,NPCU(powered!)and "Royal Hudson" builds.

It would be a complete tooling job. The mechanism might be similar, but the trucks are Amfleet trucks possibly with 33" wheels. The ends, roof hump, underbody, all new -and a half-window at one side of the car. Now that's more work than they'd probably gain in sales. Perhaps Mike B. Can issue the ends and roof blister (hint).
The Pooch, now that's easier.
