This might be out in left field, how about a "retrucking" kit for the early runs of Walters Amfleet and Comet/Horizen Fleet cars, using the current Amfleet production trucks,a simple fix for those modelers with a large "fleet" of early run cars.

It would make sense!! Ps...anyone have ANY idea on how to go about kitbashing one of the old Amtrak ex-Army Baggage Dorms? www.rrpicturearchives.net/pictures%5C46885%5Crr1230ee.jpgI really haven't seen anything close from Brass Car Sides or something close. Tom (Ps..to keep this thread on topic, Jason @ Rapido did say they're getting a LOT of requests for the GP40TC model, and they could use one too. No plans in the works just yet but maybe down the road.)

You might find 1 of those old kits buried somewhere,as Walters produced them ages ago. Believe the "Le Pub" cars came out of the ex-Army cars as well. If on E(vil)Bay figure on $$$$ to purchase. You could use a Brass Car side that's the closest match, then using sheet brass to plug unneeded windows/doors
Lets see if Walters does a Mainline combine that could become a kitbash base for the Bag/Dorm.

I never thought I'd be saying, but mostly everything that I'd like to have has been made, in the works or kitbashed.
That being said, what I'm still waiting on and crossing my fingers for is an HO ACS-64.
***RANT*** As much as I like my model HHP-8s, while they have had less issues with stalling, their max scale speeds in service are inconsistent, topopnt out at only 60 MPH (not sure if it's the motor or decoders). 2 out of 3 have been pulled from service as a result. It would be nice to start replacing the HHPs with the 64s, assuming the model is initially released with three or more different road numbers.
Just Like Amtrak, I'd replace the HHPs first, followed by the AEM7DC fleet. I would then keep my AEM7ACs until additional road numbers of the ACS-64 become available and then gradually retire the AEM7ACs on a 1-to-1 basis. ***End Rant***
I'd also like to see the "inevitable" retooled Walthers Viewliners with interiors and metal plating followed by the baggage cars. They can at least re-tool the current model and then wait for the prototype VIIs to be released. There are three (perhaps four) phases they can release them in (Phase IV, Phase VI, Phase III and the intermediate "patch"). The latter is where they patched over the "Amtrak" marking with the current logo. It may not require a factory paint run so much as an added decal in the Phase IV decal sheet.
I would like to see more push-pull commuter equipment such as the Nippon Shayrio Gallery Cars found on METRA, VRE and CalTran. I invested in a TLT VRE MP36 in hopes of having rollingstock to compliment it.
In the same vein, I'd also like to see upgraded Horizon Fleet/Comet cars
One of my long-shot desires is a Metro-North M1/M3 MU in plastic with a reliable drive system. This is out of left field but I grew up with these. While I do have M7A resign kits, I've yet to find anything suitable for reliable ops. I haven't installed the stanton drives in an attempt to retrofit but from what I've heard, they're likely not going to yield much better results (even though my plan is to have each MU pair, powered by one truck.

Kyle, that is kind of hard to believe considering that passenger car models are always considered the "underdog". It seems like Phase IVb stuff has really found a market share though, so I guess manufacturers are jumping on-board.
So, are you planning on continually keeping your layout in the present-day?

So, are you planning on continually keeping your layout in the present-day? Absolutely. I've always kept current as much as possible so long as $$$ allows.

MLRR,Try reloading a better speed curve in the Hippo's decoders via JMRI,or check for bad drive parts, it's just a thought that about that max speed glitch in them,at present time,a pair of Amtrak meatballs are running in MARC service out of DC. As a 60% chance that Kato might be making the HO ACS-64's with Atlas the 40% 2nd choise, believe that Amtrak's call for now. As for "historical" relics,Having a group of "retired" power in service is not a bad thing, remember it's your model RR. Just find a quiet Industry track or Engine House/Warehouse to hide them from the scrappers. Case in point: A GG-1 in GN paint wanders on the Mainlines at the setup at times. With a little luck, have a "Rainbow Era" E 8 dummy that might lead the Chief by Fair time next year.

Well it's nearly the end of 2016,the Rapido RDC -1 has finally arrived, along with the BLI PRR P-70 coaches. There's been a "rumble" out of Con-Cor about a run of P-54's in the "Tichy" and "Goodfellow" LIRR paint schemes. There's still a demand of a rerun for the Viewliner I's and the Comet/Horizon fleet cars with the 'improved" trucks used on the Amfleet cars by Walters, Any other "WISH LIST ITEMS" for 2017?

Hopefully 2017 will bring about some sorely missed pieces & maybe updated versions to older models.
Rohr Turboliner....Rapido? U34CH....Atlas hopefully will do another NJT and EL version P30CH....This is a must. There isn't too many Amtrak passenger diesels left to produce after the Athearn SDP40F is finally released. A P32AC-DM or a Genesis quality P42 would be welcomed. E44....Can't understand why this one hasn't been done yet. BLI maybe? Horizon (Comet) Cars and all their many configurations....whomever decides to do these, are sitting on a potential gold mine California & Surfliner Cars....ditto...whomever decides to do these, are sitting on a potential gold mine. Another run of MP36-40PH locomotives....True Line Trains should do another run of these locomotives, or Kato can upsize it from N to HO The re-announcement of the Walthers Fallen Flag series....Missed opportunity for Walthers More plated Walthers Budd cars.... I need an explanation as to why Walthers released the plated Amtrak Lounge, Dome & Baggage car and not do the other cars (sleepers, diners & coaches) Modern Nippon Sharyo-built Gallery Bi-Levels. More subway cars other than NYCTA R17/R21 IRT cars.

With Taglo sets headed to Amtrak-Ca and the Cascades services in the Pacific Northwest, a good baseline Taglo model from Europe would be nice in HO/OO When the design is finally settled, the Acela II(aka "Liberty") in HO
A "Comarrow" bodyshell that could be used on a HO Bachmann Amfleet underframe.

OKAY BOYS... for those that are aching for an HO scale F40PH-2CAT (NJT, Metro North, CalTrain, AMT), NOW... N-O-W is the time to hit Rapido with requests for the model. They have been tinkering on the idea of possible producing them.
Send those e-mails!

Shoot. I can't even get a bite from Rapido on producing the only other Phase I F40PH. 58 units produced, and RTA ordered 28 of them. All 28 are still in service, but have been heavily rebuilt.
Any more, my passenger wish list is as follows:
RTA F40PH from Rapido (Phase I and II) C&NW commuter clubs 553 and 555 Budd MILW/RI/RTA bilevel C&NW St. Louis Car Co. bilevels 1-16 F40C as-delivered P30CH Amtrak F40PHR ex-Army baggage car SDP40F....er, nevermind
It's amazing how the "want" list has been getting shorter. My biggest problem has been getting to the workbench to finish what I've started.

Amazing how the projects "pile" up on the Workbench/Shop space........ Have a friend wait for the Santa Fe rebuilt SDP-40F,could use a pair of SDP-40F's in ph III.

In particular, I think I should get a Phase III SDP40F before the much-prettier red nose. I figure if I keep all my stray models rounded up in that 1978-81 time frame, I can justify them.
