City of Miami would be a good one, although that would require at least 4 different RR companies.
ACL Champion or Seaboard Orange Blossom was never done and would give a nod to southern modelers.
Since PRR is so popular, a Reading Crusader would catch some modelers by surprise.

I hear ya on the ACL Champion and SBD Orange Blossom Special, maybe a Silver Meteor too. Where are all of the other members... need votes in the poll to send to Walthers! Tom

I for sure remember some PC and the rainbow era phasing out making way for the pointless arrow. I rode those Pullman Sleepers as a kid from NY Penn to St. Louis in my early years with my Grandmother. With that being said a new age of modeler is coming up. Some late boomers and early generation X folks like myself. As for ideas I would like to see the Southern Crescent and the PRR Senator or Congressional in plastic. I know it came out in brass years ago but I don't wish to shell out nearly $4,000 for a full consist without an interior. Walthers certainly would do a fantastic job with the stainless finishes. Consider as well some Penn Central sleepers in tuscan red with the dulux gold lettering and stripes.

Nice mtttrains, that's what they (Walthers) would want to hear, I'll pass it along.

The LIRR is a "special" case of sorts,a "ward" of the PRR till the sale to the State of New York, and the Authorty morfing into a region wide operation. The Cannonball, the remaining 1st class operation on a publicly owned commuter RR.
With the Southern Ry opting "out" at first, and then working with Amtrak. The "Transconn" Sleeper via New Orleans at first, then extending their "reach" to Boston.
The DRGW also opted "out" running the "RGZ",with their part of the CZ equipment pool....

Con-Cor did the Pioneer Zephyer, that model could "stand in" for the "Flying Yankee". The CZ,a joint effort by CB&Q,DRGW,and WP was done by Broadway LTD,but was not DCC "freindly" during the early DCC era(A HEAVEY current draw on DC/DCC systems with all the lights on ) This train is different from the other CB&Q Zephyer fleet trains with their mix of fixed sets and "Custom built" locos, before settling on EMD's E units and Budd built passenger equipment...

Nice mtttrains, that's what they (Walthers) would want to hear, I'll pass it along. Please pass it along and thank you. I would feel honored for my voice to be heard. I really feel that at least the Crescent will suit the desires of many modelers being that it ran late into the seventies and came as far north as Sunnyside Yard in Queens, New York via the Pennsy and later Amtrak ( I think). My thoughts regarding the Senator and Congressional also stem from the success of the Broadway Limited (BWL) run from some time ago. The BWL cars sold out in no time at all especially the observation and head end cars. The flat end observation with corrigated sides of those two trains would be a hit. Never before done in plastic. I would recommend a true color interior for that run and not the generic tan plastic along with appropriate lighting color as well. I would not mind paying a little more for that attention to detail. Besides, Rapido is very detail oriented and their items sell out every time with a higher price point. I do not expect Walthers to add piping detail but to add color will only add visual appeal to their product line if done correctly.

Yea the Silver Meteor I totally forgot about lol. I just want to reiterate that this thread and poll is not an official Walthers poll. They have put out a survey but it was only up for a day and many modelers did not have a chance to vote or voice their concerns abut future passenger trains. As stated everything will be passed to Walthers so please keep them coming. Notes: If you want PRR Broadway Limited observation cars (View Series blunt end), PRE-ORDER THEM NOW. I personally hate pre-ordering, but these GO FAST, much like the Creek series NYC observation cars.) Trust me, do NOT wait. I already pre-ordered two for Mountain View and Tower View. From the Walther survey a few weeks ago... there was QUITE A FEW PRR and NYC trains listed, so take that as they're seriously looking at further name trains for those roads AS WELL AS more Santa Fe trains (Grand Canyon was one.) I WISH they would do an Erie-Lackawanna heavyweight diner. www.traceylfisher.com/JJL_Models/Images/Article_Part-III_Pictures/HeavyweightPictures/1.jpgWhat I am trying to steer them into is....if they don't want to commit to a bunch of different trains when there are minor changes between each one (for instance: the New England States and a 1960's 20th Century Limited... to introduce a 1960's version 20th Century but add a few cars, ex: Brook-series observation cars, this way you can model quite a few different trains with one name train release.) This way it is cost-effective for them and the modeler can get what they want, a win-win for everyone. That all being said, I am specifically requesting: New York Central Brook-series observation car. New York Central 22-10 Slumbercoach (that also lasted into Amtrak as Harbor-series cars) (with those cars, as well as previously-released Baggage-Dorm and Diner-Grill NYC specific cars... it would be VERY easy to model other NYC trains.) Erie-Lackawanna Heavyweight Diner (mind you, adding what Walthers is coming out as far as EL equipment, add some Rapido EL baggage cars and you can have a decent representation of the Lake Cities.) Are there any PRR-specific cars that haven't been introduced by Walthers? PS.... "TRUE COLOR INTERIOR as requested by MTTRAINS... EXCELLENT IDEA and I totally agree." Tom

It was common for the "name" trains shared equipment pools with the "secondary name trains" when needed to cover cars that needed shop work, or in the case of Diners, the "fumeacation" to kill off the bugs to keep the Health Dept "happy"
Each "name" train had at least 4-6 sets of equipment, with a half set of spares at each terminal if possible.

Yup exactly Hoss, so true. I would assume the fumeacation was especially prevalent during the Penn Central era? ha ha ha.

I second the painted interiors for Walthers passenger cars. I also want to suggest Walthers add working red marker lights or lighted tail signs to their name trains, which would be a nice added touch.
Some of the other manufacturers have these effects, why not Walthers? In some instances some of the other manufacturers passenger cars with some of these "bells & whistle" effects cost less than a Walthers passenger car.
BLI Zephyr Cars - factory red marker lights & working lighted drum light on tail car. Rapido LRC Cars - factory red marker lights which reverse in direction of travel with the supplied magnetic wand. MTH HO Passenger Car Sets - factory red marker lights & lighted drum light on tail car. Bachmann Amfleets - factory red marker lights. Kato Superliners - factory red marker lights, with optional light kit for interior lighting. Kato Bilevels - Cab cars with head light/ tail light directional lighting.
As far as I know, the Metroliners are the only Walthers "name train" that was released with working marker lights.
Could you imagine the foamers if the tail sign on the UP City of Los Angeles was a factory lighted effect like the original? Or if the Walthers Superliners, and Amfleets had factory red markers?
Just a reasonable thought as to why it doesn't make sense to market a $65-$80 dollar passenger car and have to take it apart and add some minute details.

No not "just a thought" my friend, I TOTALLY agree with you, these should be standard!
So... appropriately painted (or at least multicolored) interiors - Mttrains Marker lights and (or) lighted tail signs - rails4dmv.
I COULDN'T AGREE more that these should be standard.
EXCELLENT IDEAS guys.
