Hahahahaha, I heard of the Penn Central aquarium windows.... where rainwater would become trapped in between both window glass planes from all the cracked, peeled away gaskets) and effectively slosh all around at speed.. hence the aquarium effect.

Well...on the former NYC side,we got the "plexi-glass" treatment, clear and tinted green, that was crazed to heck, and scratched by the car wash chem and brushes.... after the glass was "taken out" by the Bronx "rock bombers" crowd

www.railroad.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=95&t=4406This is actually one of the most informative threads as far as Penn Central passenger service goes. I think Walthers can do quite well with some "patched" ex PRR and NYC cars, especially since Rapdio's Penn Central passenger coaches did quite well! Okay boys.... NOW.... New England States (New York Central).... besides the Brook-series observation, what were typical consists in the 1960's? Any other unique cars? The General (PRR)... typical consists for the 1960's, any other unique cars for this train? For Erie-Lackwanna trains, besides the unique heavyweight Dining Car.... and minus the 10-6's announced already... what other unique cars should be produced? (I assume the Phoebe Snow tavern-observation modelers would like to see, did the E-L have any unique coaches that don't fall under the one already announced? I am not sure if that coach is accurate.) GM&O Plug? Valpo Dummy in PC, CR, or Amtrak incarnations? C&NW bilevel Flambeau 400? Jersey Builder? 90's-era Wolverine with cab car? (hint) Just trying to think outside the box a little... It's pretty hard not to like the Dummy...too much variety over the years. P70s, bilevels, Amfleets, Horizon...every possible combination of motive power. Even ran with the N&W Orland Park cars briefly after they were retired. www.flickr.com/search/?text=valpo%20dummyMy gripe with the NYCTA models available is that they're all A Division equipment. I'm only interested in B Division, and that stuff has been largely neglected. A little bit has been done in 3-rail, but nothing in HO. As far as CTA, I've got the 2600-series kit I need, but I still don't know what I'll do for trucks. I've about given up hope on getting good rapid transit models.

Nice choices! The Jersey Builder can be done now with existing Empire Builder equipment already introduced by Walthers the C&NW Flambeau 400 is a good one, they have looked @ the Twin Cities 400. Ah the Wolverine.... it can be done but as you said...Cab car HELPS here haha. NO comment on that one Valparaiso commuter runs were certainly interesting! I'll pass it along. Keep them coming!!

Ah the Wolverine.... it can be done but as you said...Cab car HELPS here haha. NO comment on that one Valparaiso commuter runs were certainly interesting! I'll pass it along. Keep them coming!! I know the Jersey Builder is fairly within reach, but it just sounds good rolling off the tongue...and gets even funnier if you think why it has the name! The TC 400 had too many unique cars that don't apply well even to other C&NW trains (baggage/tavern/lounge and observation cars were only used on TC). The Flambeau and its variants had the 2-story diner and RPO, plus the one oddball car (Was it 908?) with its strange window config, but in general the cars rotated among several trains before winding up on Amtrak. If they do a C&NW train, I'd rather see the effort go to one where the cars are useful elsewhere. Heck, the Baby Zephyr ran in full C&NW paint in the Amtrak era, and IIRC, so did the Illini a few times. With their (partly correct) HEP F7 and bilevel coaches, Walthers is half-way there already. The one car I'd really like is a good core to build the commuter club cars (Deerpath, Cowpath, and Psychopath, although Psychopath had been retired by my era). I thought the ACF café/lounge was a match, but it's really not...I think it was an ACF bar/lounge. I don't need Walthers to get an exact match, but starting with the diner roof and the café/lounge sides I'm still a looong way off from having a credible model. What's Walthers' appetite for another ACF City-type car?

The "Bay Head Builder" was a mixed bag of GN coaches, some in Sky Blue,Traditional colors, and BN green/white. Not sure if a Parlor car was picked up for 1 of the "Commuter Clubs" out of Bay Head, till NJT turned it into it's 1st "Biz" Car,that former CNJ Blue Comet OBS was owned by a Bay Head based "Commuter Club"

The CNW Gallery cars made their last stand on the Valpo Dummy,as did some ex-EL E8's with what ever was around under CR rule. With Rapido making RDC's,The WP's "Zephyerette" and DM&IR's service to Thunder Bay come to mind...

Agreed, the RDC's by Rapido will basically blow all the other RDC's produced away lol.

The "Roger Williams" RDC set comes to mind, maybe something for Rapido to try, after watching the sales of the 8600 class cars go,with the help from NHRHTA.

In the June'15 RMC,there's an article about creating shadowlining decals, this was done by CB&Q to "camo" smooth sided cars and some HW cars as "Budd" built cars on their trains.

Great stuff here. The GM&O had quite some interesting equipment. Anyone have any 1960's-era consists for the PRR General and the NYC New England States? www.walthers.com/exec/bigimage/913-216?img=0PS... sneak peak @ the 2016 Walthers cover, pretty sharp! Tom

www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?3,3781241 I see other people are throwing out feelers on Trainorders. While I love reading the suggestions, for the MOST REALISTIC expectation for future trains, Walthers tends to stick with late 1950's-to early 1970's trains for the future! I really should get a Trainorders account lol. Tom

After checking with the resident Rio Grande "expert" at the club, the "Yampa Valley Mail" was the Denver - Craig local train
